Summary
The last known film print of the 1927 MGM film "London After Midnight" is believed to have been destroyed in a 1967 MGM vault fire. A persistent problem bedeviling previous attempts to understand and reconstruct the film is that these sources are contradictory among themselves regarding crucial plot elements, and some are also internally incoherent. The rediscovery of a long-lost short story version, written in 1928 now provides a master key for a detailed comparison of all surviving sources
